Hey yous!
So much
good this week. I know I say that like every week but I mean it!
It
started with a good p-day last week, I mean come on- we got our nails done with
Stacey.
And we avoided getting bible-bashed by 2 British guys because they said
we were too good-looking. Then we started all the half birthday celebrations in
the flat since all four of us are born in May. We drew names and Sister Perez
and I had each other. I got her this Aloe drink, which is yum, with a bow
headband (she loves bows) and a coupon for a 10 min back massage! I got cute
earrings from her and three adorable skinny belts! Then we all went to lunch in
the city (out of area... woot woot) at Hogsbreath, which was nice being at a
sit-down restaurant which Australia has like hardly any of.
Oh and we started
listening to Christmas music. ‘Nough said. Josh Turner singing “The
First Noel” and Little Big Town singing “Go Tell it on a Mountain” (I love the
members here who download these songs for me haha)
We had
President and Sister Lew down this week for interviews and oh how I just I LOVE
them. They pretty much said we'd both be staying because 1. Relationships have
been built with the ward and 2. We are smashing it. Also, the mission got
20 cars so they hinted with all the work we do..... (fill in the blank) :) We
hit standard of excellence this week too! We had 22 lessons!!!!!!! The stake
president even spoke in church yesterday about how our wards are supposed to
make sure we get 20 lessons a week, and he made us stand up and then go up
to the stand. Kind of awkward.
So all
this teaching! Our older man from Spain... finally got in contact. Still
reading, desire still there, just sick and is so happy we don't give up on him
and keep teaching him (well of course, duh). We met a lady who is a minister
from Uganda on the bus a few weeks back and then met up with her again and had
a really good lesson introducing the Book of Mormon by explaining Ezekiel's
prophecy. Totally understood it. One of our Sudanese investigators made it very
clear she wants to keep meeting with us, but doesn’t want to be baptized. But
we taught a referral which was for another Sudanese family (like the only one
in their community we weren't teaching already) and they were soooo golden and
committed to take the lessons and want to learn the truth for themselves. I
love people with desire. Our Sudanese woman with the baptismal date, whose
husband has the most sincere desire ever (and the only Sudanese man we have met
so far not anti-anything that’s not Anglican) is currently contemplating
setting a baptismal date as well! Exciting. Probably set his date and push his
wife’s back to sometime in December. We also went over Stacey's baptism plan
with her and her husband. The things he thought we should go over and review with
her were exactly what we were planning. MIRACLE. But due to not getting in
touch this weekend (company in town) we will push back her date a week just
because we haven’t gone over the baptismal interview yet. Oh and Dion starts
his mission papers THURSDAY. But most of the lessons and work this week was
with less-actives, which I love.
BIGGEST
MIRACLE. So there is a less-active family with a nonmember
husband that lives like 2 blocks over, and is like our eternal backup plan to
see when everything falls through since they live so close. After going on
splits with the members of the ward Thursday, the mom and daughter CAME TO CHURCH this Sunday. We were so excited to
see them and our hearts were so full. We also had like another 5
less-actives at church. We think we need to open the overflow next week!! :) So
after church we stopped by and she wanted to get our home addresses (even
though we aren't going anywhere) just because she really feels like she
connected with us. Oh and they invited us to Christmas party with all her
nonmember friends. And she said her husband really likes us. His
heart is softening. He listens to all our spiritual thoughts because it’s
a true sincere testimony and we aren't too pushy. So cool. I had no clue such a
miracle was happening with this family. Now our visits with them will for sure
be more regular and not just if we have extra time sort of ordeal
:)
Oh
and every single bus came like at the perfect time this week, the Lord does not
want his time wasted! (Except one day we had to wait for an hour, so we threw
M&Ms at all the white tail spiders in their webs at the bus stop since it wasn’t
our tracting suburb #entertaining). So we were jam-packed with lessons
this week and I feel the spirit so strong each time we teach. For being so type
A and always having a plan, I am the most unplanned missionary. We plan a
subject to teach and a commitment. That is it. The spirit guides THE whole
lesson, even if it changes the little bit we did plan. And even random
spiritual thoughts at less-actives or members, it is the spirit that guides the
whole thing. It is incredible. I am so happy to be a missionary and learn how
we truly can open our mouths and the Holy Ghost not only fills it, but carries
that message to the hearts of others. Love yous and so happy for all the
support!
Sister
Rushing :)
