What a
week! From box -coloring my hair roots this week (I looked like a
"ranga" (red-head) for a few days, it was quite strawberry blonde) to
a carwash while listening to "His Hands" (super dramatic, yet still
quite the spiritual experience obviously) to nursing a companion back to good
health (thanks BYU), to heaps of good appointments and CONFERENCE!
So I
don't know if I have mentioned it or not but I love the Sudanese and we are
teaching heaps now and they are all somehow related. Small world eh? Super cool
miracle: We taught a Sudanese, and her sister and cousin were there. Went to
teach the cousin, and her friend was there. Went to her friend's house and I had
TOTALLY randomly knocked on it before and she wasn't interested, and now we are
teaching her and she is so golden. Oh and we will be teaching the sister we
found originally as well because she is in elders area but wants us instead ;)
haha jk but not really..
Also,
referrals are coming in because the trust has been established! Either from
other missionaries, ward members or even people in the stake that specifically
want us to teach their friends.
Oh and
finally taught Word of Wisdom to our investigator with the baptismal date from
last transfer. His baptismal date keeps
getting pushed back and back and could take years but we’re not giving up. And
I was dreading this lesson but it went really good actually. Another golden
investigator we found has had lots of stuff come up lately so its been hard to
get in touch. But persistence and faith is key!
Dinner
appointments are still good as and as filling as ever. The members are the
best. Our feeds are the most fun thing ever. I am going to miss them all so
much when I get transferred. Yes, I just said that. The chances I stay are
soooo slim. So I am prepping with my goodbyes this week. So yeah, whether I go
or not, I will be where the Lord needs me the next 6 weeks and no matter what,
this also means my next p-day will be on Tuesday (so Monday night in the States
right?) Also, I have been so spoiled
here with a free library with unlimited time. So everyone start to write more
real letters, because most likely where I will go next will be 1/2 hour to 1
hour on computers... not like 2 and a half.... haha :)
(Headed off to conference)
But we
watched conference this week over here and it was SO INSPIRING. I kept promising
investigators and less-actives that if they come with questions they would be
answered, because this is the prophet and apostles for our day. It was so true.
They answered all of my questions and I knew some of their concerns as well.
Some
favorite things I learned were....
-To
take up his cross daily
-Never
look back, look at all we still have to do. Faith always points to the future
-Doubt
your doubts before you doubt your faith
-Faith
must precede miracles
-If
the bitter cup hasn't passed, drink it and be strong
-Patiently
enduring some things is part of our moral education
-Decisions
determine destiny
-When
we can't forgive, rely on the Lord's forgiveness, when we can't love, rely on
the Lord's love
-God
devised the means to save each of his children
-Our
1st priority is to serve God and push our personal handcarts with the power the
pioneers pushed theirs
-I
must become the rock that the river cannot wash away
-Fill
your life with service to others and Satan will lose his power of temptation in
your life.
So yes,
I loved conference. President Monson had to be my favorite. I love the fact we
are the restored church of Christ on the earth as Pres. Uchtdorf's talk said,
and that’s why people keep joining it! We have the priesthood, the power of God
on the earth today and a living prophet and apostles, who I know without a
doubt are inspired to give us the guidance and counsel from the Lord we need in
our day. The church is true! Love you all and hope this letter finds everyone
well and rejuvenated from conference as I am :)
Love
yous!
Sister
Rushing :)
(We did some biking this week. And the skirt I wore blew up in the wind. So any weight I am gaining is clearing going to my rear end haha)
I got these killer pants at kmart. I was obsessed with them that a member had, and got them, so thought I'd throw em on with my eternal friend shirt this morning.
Some yard work service. Look familiar dad?
When my companion was sick, she corn-rowed my hair and i got to be gangsta Rushing and kill up all the spiders.
