Hey yous!
So this
week has been heaps of fun! 2 big miracles, heaps of service, gaining trust of
members (some already said they tried to FB stalk me if that means anything??),
getting to know the area and things I think are really going to pick up this
week!
Sister Rushing's new home, um I mean Flat
First of
all, I'm just going to spew out heaps of random bits! I think the Lord has
confirmed my decision to do labor and delivery nursing. I feel like I've been surrounded
by babies and pregnant people my whole mission. It is cooling off, heaps of
cool rain and thunder storms.
Sister Hala'api'api, Sister Pelto (Flat mates) and companion Sister Larson
We combine with flat sisters for role-plays every
morning, it is really fun. And we eat lunch together and dinner (not as many
feeds here- I've lost 6 kgs without all the Polynesians), and we just all love
each other! We street contacted next to the ocean, yeah I know, seriously.. so
beautiful. And while doing so we found a really sweet older lady from New
Zealand who is coming to church this next Sunday :)
We then
had a potential investigator who refuses to meet us just because we are
different sisters than the ones that were here before us and then text us about
getting a message from Jesus Christ to not eat meat, and was really concerned
about us.
Then my
GPS has leaded us astray heaps of times. (Mom don't read this section). It lead
me down a one way road going the wrong way... but we were the only car, so the
Lord was watching out for us. And then we wanted ice cream for dinner so we
plugged it into GPS and accidentally left our area, after we realized it was 3
hours away... it was fun explaining that to the Zone Leaders... Other fun
driving bits: My comp is still a little freaked out about the left side. When a
car in front of us slammed on their breaks, I slammed on mine (obviously) and
in my peripheral vision I see her slam her foot on her "break" hahaha
Then she was like, I forget sometimes this is not the drivers side anymore!
The new
investigator we found last week from Nigeria is progressing really well though.
He read the Book of Mormon and has genuine questions, which is a really good
sign. It shows that it is different than just some novel. He wants to find if
there really is one church and know if the Book of Mormon is true and hopefully
we can be the instruments in helping him find that answer on his own. Which I
know without a doubt he will as I recently finished reading through the Book of
Mormon and took upon myself Moroni's promise once more to pray to know of its
truth and felt such a warmth of peace testifying to me it is another testament
of my Savior Jesus Christ.
We had a
FINDING MIRACLE! We were searching for a less active sister without a flat
number at this certain address so we knocked every door. Then the last door
wasn't her either but was a lady that's had a lot of us knock on her door. She
was quick to say she has her own church and works tending kids at another
church but by the end of our discussion she gave us a return appointment for
this week, and asked US when church was and said she'd ask for a day off just
to attend ours. She looks really promising. And she knew I was from the South!
I wondered how because I now, believe it or not, am actually picking up an
Aussie accent as others have been telling me (#MIRACLE) but she said she could
still pick up some accent but mostly it was my outgoing personality and how
much I can talk :)
Then
COOLEST MIRACLE on P-day we went to print pictures, my camera was by the kiosk,
then I went to the counter and searched around the store for about 15 minutes
then picked up photos and went to the car. As soon as I sat in the car, with my
purse on my lap, I had a prompting to check if I grabbed camera (MOM. Don't
freak out at this point ok?!) It wasn't anywhere in my bag. I went back in the
store. Not there. It had to have been stolen those 15 minutes I wasn't with it.
I was beating myself up, praying so hard, knowing how much Mom was gonna kill
me, etc. haha. Left my info with the lady at the desk who said maybe a miracle
would happen (#missionarymoment) and then we went to the car. We all prayed so
hard. I kept thinking. The Lord does work miracles. Then when we were back at
the flat I opened the back seat of the car and the camera was there. The two
other sisters said it wasn't there before. There was no way my purse that only
was on my lap in the car for about 20 seconds had a camera fall out into the
back. I believe it was a miracle. Maybe y'all think its not and to that I say
"WHERE IS YOUR FAITH?!"
I know
the Lord does still work miracles, I know he is looking out for all of us, and
I know this especially as I am honored to be his servant laboring in his
vineyard to bring my brothers and sisters his gospel and the peace and
happiness I have felt in my life. I love the scriptures, I love my studies, I
love these people. Have a great week and spread this happiness you've found in
your life if you've found it, and if you haven't, "ask the missionaries,
they can help you" :)
Lots of
love and smiles from Down Under!
