I can NOT
believe I have already been here through one transfer! Yes it is that time
again already, so next p-day will be on Tuesday here, so Monday for yous! But I
will sum up this week as follows! Which was great... AS ALWAYS! :)
Monday-
Preparation day. And with all the rain and thunder we have had here lately it
was only fair enough that we used the stuff to wash our car that morning to
have a sponge water fight in the rain later that day!
Tuesday-
Awkward dinner conversation at Bishops when they asked if we had parents that
served missionaries and where... I almost wanted to deny that my Mom served too
because I said they both served and both in Paraguay which led to of course
having to tell my Bishop and his family as well as all TWELVE missionaries they
were feeding your story... thanks Mum and Dad!
Wednesday-
A random lady at the bus stop stopped me to tell me I was beautiful. Nec Minute
("Next minute") the recent convert we work with here went on about
how horrible my posture is....
Thursday-
I saw a drug deal, found more wrong addresses cleaning up the ward list but
that led us to now have a service project with the current owner next week! I
then got a letter from the part member miracle family from my last area. Mike
thanked me for my "not so subtle hint to read the Book of Mormon" but
confessed it was actually on his list... somewhere. And then this so called
Atheist also mentioned being grateful my PRAYERS WERE ANSWERED by going to the
South Coast and hoped that HE would take care of me. Welp, look likes someone
believes in a God now.
Friday-
The less active we have been reading the scriptures with twice a week invited
us to lunch with her and all of her nonmember neighbors! Woot woot! Then
President and Sister Lew came down for interviews! They are THE BEST. I love
them so much and they still love my enthusiasm. President received compliments
about me getting to know the members and greeting all of them etc. This ward kind
of takes missionaries for granted a bit since there is 12 of us so President
really told me to continue to build up that trust (so does that mean I get to
stay?? :) Then a new less active lady we met, and now will also be meeting with
weekly, is going through some hard stuff - ncluding abuse from her husband.
This is a BIG issue here. And she isn't the only person we have worked with
going through some of this crazy stuff. We also clicked really well with her 20-year-old
daughter. She hasn't gone to church since she was 12. But she has a scary as
boyfriend. Middle of our lesson with her mum, he just stormed through the back
door and didn't say hi or make contact with any of us... Oh but they had
kittens, which ended up having fleas. Shower time!
Saturday-
So in response to President wanting us to build up the members here with
missionary work I proposed in our missionary meeting doing a Monthly Missionary
Challenge (M&M) So we will get poster board and cut out huge "M"
"&" "M"'s signs and then if they complete the challenge
they get to take a picture with the M&M signs to go on the bulletin and get
a bag of M&M's! It was a hit and I hope it gets everyone pumped up to the
challenge. And then Sister Larson was asked to give a talk and was freaking out
a bit. So I helped her with it. It was on charity. We went all off of Moroni
7:45 replaces charity for Christ because really he is the definition. And then
breaking down every attribute with an example of Jesus Christ (for example- he
is not puffed up= washing his disciples feet, or seeketh not his own= sent to
do the will of his father, always turning out, etc.) Then at the end flipping
that same verse for ourselves (Do we suffer long? Are we kind? So we envy not?
etc.)
Sunday-
Sis. Pelto's birthday! So we decorated the flat, did a corny scavenger hunt for
her to find her gifts her mom sent here, and then snuck over to their
investigators after church for a surprise birthday lunch for her!
Not much
progress this week with investigators though. Our miracle find last week really
wanted to come to church but was in a lot of pain and had to get some
injections during church time - but stay tuned. Mostly just really building up
trust and relationships with the less actives and planting seeds (you know me!
haha)
But so so
so excited for General Conference. I had the best studies this week reviewing
some of the addresses from October. How blessed are we to have a living day
prophet and apostles that speaks to us, in our day and always give us spot on guidance
we need. I hope we are all preparing for that, serving others, and praying for
opportunities to share the gospel. I LOVE this work. I LOVE this gospel. It is
the source of all my happiness! Have a great week and thanks for everything!
LOVE
YOUS!
Sister
Rushing
P.S. Jehovah’s
witnesses knocked on our door during our studies and gave us a pamphlet. Too
great!
