I'm Staying in Wollongong - no foolin'

Wollongong Week #7

Hey yous! I'm staying! Woot woot! What a great week! Heaps of miracles, great lessons, laughs, random moments, and pranks! I'll try to do the daily highlights again.

Monday- I got "burned" by a millipede. It's all good. Despite the fact the family where we were eating dinner at had to pull up all the poisonous insects that can kill you thing haha, but its really nothing, just a bruise looking thing.

Tuesday- We found Rachel! Our golden new investigator. She was at an address of a lady that apparently moved out of our ward, but the Lord puts people in your path for a reason. She is super open to religion and in our return appointment we taught her the Restoration and she willingly accepted a Book of Mormon and to hear the lessons. She even mentioned when we first met her she felt positive and happy all day and now recognizes that as the spirit! We will see her again tomorrow! :) It was also April Fools so we put heaps of left over balloons from Sis. Pelto's birthday in the Elder’s cars filled with water. Biggest fail of a prank ever.

Wednesday- a random lady near the shops saw our badges and sang to us "Jesus Loves You" and we met a 70-year-old less active Scottish lady who is the coolest. She has bedazzled furniture and likes Buddha decorations which scared away her Jehovah Witness friends that were visiting her. But she is so so so sweet. And wants us to visit her every Thursday and share scriptures with her now.

Thursday- the biggest rain, lightning and thunderstorm I have ever seen. So we listened to really dramatic church songs like "His Hands" and it actually was a really spiritual and reflective experience.

Friday- I got my embarrassing yet oh so creative "HUMP DAY" package. My mum is the best. Too bad the package was repackaged because our flipping Zone Leader opened it up! But he didn't open the little packages. He was just looking for the lollies I guess? Oh and we had to sing at Zone Training. SCARIEST THING EVER. We mashed up I Am A Child of God and Sister Hala and I did the higher harmonizing part and then the last line Sister Pelto and I harmonized. Yes, I still cannot sing at all but apparently I now can harmonize! (Ether 12:27 status?)

Then at the Zone meeting a member came along in the neighboring ward who just happens to be that Scottish lady we met biggest fellowship. She also gave us a referral with a set appointment for tomorrow! (Don't you see how things are picking up now and how I'm excited to stay?)

Then service at the less active lady we have been meeting with. It was raining so she was shocked I was down to still help in the rain (northwest status) she literally didn't believe me. But after a lot of convincing and a prayer we cut down some tree's for her without any rain :)
Then the biggest prank on ME! We have possums living in our roof and the sisters called during service to say one was in the flat. I was super nervous when we got home since they said they saw it upstairs and that it climbed over Sis Pelto's mattress since it was on the floor.  Then I realized if they climb up trees they could also climb up my bunk. I then saw freaking possum poop on my bed! And it looked sooooo real. I flipped! Just to find out it was just oreo, marshmallow, flour and some water and there was actually never even a possum! Hats off to those sisters haha Hats off!

Saturday- I was pranked AGAIN. Hardcore transfer anxiety and the sisters put their contact in our phone as President Lew.  But turns out we were all staying! Then we spent the day at the Relief Society mini MTC where at one point they had all the fulltime missionaries, returned missionaries and those with their papers in march around the chapel singing Called To Serve.

Sunday- Here was a curve ball, we got a call from President. For reals. And he said yes, we are both staying but that we'd be in a trio!

Monday- We didn't go up to Sydney though to pick her up, which I now know why, because we had a great lesson with a less active that morning! I really wanted to study that morning for something to share with her. I felt impressed to study all my notes from the previous conference but then felt like I didn't come up with anything to share. But then in our appointment, everything she brought up related to something I reviewed that morning! How neat is that? Then we went to a Chinese buffet with a recent convert for lunch. I tried little red Japanese octopus and then chicken feet.... ewk!

Then the new Sister Training Leaders are now in Canberra! Belconnen! My old teaching pool! Which makes me OH SO happy to know they will be taken care of! So they dropped off our new companion last night on their way to Canberra. I got updates about everyone which honestly made me really homesick, I mean.. Belconnen sick haha Sis Schwabb gave me the biggest hug when I saw her and I was like "How is belconnen?!" And she was too cute and said "Missing you!" I wanted to cry...

But I really am loving Wollongong too, I can see some more miracles in the making and relationships like those I had in Belconnen. I am so grateful to stay with all the sisters in the flat and the lovely Sister Larson. And our new addition to our flat and companionship is amazing. Her name is Sister Qi and she is a recent convert from China. She is so energetic, cute as and I love her already.

I am so excited to watch General Conference this week. I have challenged everyone to write down questions and concerns and I know without a doubt they will all be addressed and answered. We have a living prophet and apostles today. How blessed are we. Love you all, love this gospel. I love growing closer to the name I represent everyday. Have a great week!

Love, Sister Rushing

P.S. We also like to catch spiders and then freeze them #cruel
